Wonderwoods officially opened: a green icon for Utrecht
On Thursday, February 13, Wonderwoods is festively opened. This mixed-use project in Utrecht’s Beurskwartier district brings nature and urban dynamics together in two iconic towers with 75,000 plants and shrubs and 300 trees. Almost all of the apartments have now been completed and the office tenants also recently received the key, which means that the building is now largely occupied.

Wonderwoods is developed by G&S& (part of VolkerWessels). The offices are owned by the ASR Dutch Mobility Fund and the rental apartments are owned by the ASR Dutch Core Residential Fund. The towers combine innovative architecture with vertical gardens that encourage biodiversity and contribute to a healthy living environment. Wonderwoods is designed by internationally renowned architects Stefano Boeri Architetti and MVSA
Architects.
Speaking at the official opening were Marcel Schipper (director of VolkerWessels Bouw en Vastgoedontwikkeling Nederland), Dick Gort (CEO of a.s.r. real estate), and program director Leen de Wit on behalf of the municipality of Utrecht. They emphasized how Wonderwoods contributes to the city: an innovative, green living environment that shapes the future of urban development.
